I am willing to adopt out to almost anybody, but before you decide to enter into a life long commitment to a rat, please ask yourself a few things:
Do you have the time to care for and love a rat?
Do you have the money to buy food and litter on a regular basis?
Will you be willing to take the rat to the vet if it gets sick or injured?
If yes, then a rat is right for you!
I do screen my adopters, but try to make the adoption process as uninvasive as possible, I do ask a few things though.
1.) Complete honesty. Who is the rat for? What are your plans for the rat?
2.) Patience, I cannot make a rat conceive a litter, wean the litter by a certain date, etc
3.) Please know I am only human, I cannot promise a rat will never get sick or wont get a tumor, live to be 3, etc. Sometimes by the time a rat develops a tumor, they already have great-grandchildren! Please remember though, we try our hardest and only breed the best of the best. We wont continue a line if two consecutive generations get tumors.
If you can do these things, please read the following and fill out the first form on this page: Adoption Forms
We here at Bleu Royale Rattery are a family run rattery. We are not a business, we do not make a profit or have alot of workers working behind the scenes. We are just a rattery run by me, my mother, and my ever helpful family members, mainly my nieces and nephews who enjoy socializing the newborn rats. We do not have alot of rats, and do not breed litters every month. We limit our females to only having two litters during a lifetime, but mostly it is only once. Our rats are our children, and we treat them as such.
Due to the fact that it is just me who answers emails, please give me a week to respond to yours. Usually I will respond within 3 to 4 days, and I try my hardest to respond as fast as possible.
Due to the high number of people wanting rats, and me limiting the amout of litters my rats can have, please remember you wont always get rats right away. Most people end up waiting 2 months for their baby if they want a specific type, if you are not picky you will get a rat sooner.
I do not breed litters until at least 5 people are on the wait list, which is why it takes so long to get a rat.
Girl rats go faster then boys- I cannot guarantee girls will always be in a litter, I've had litters of all boys before, but I've also had litters of all girls.
As of August 1, 2009-
I will not have the rats litter mates available to be seen, due to somebody stealing two from me
The parents cannot be seen, it is a closed rattery- due to rat illnesses going around and my rats getting it from an adopter- you will be emailed pictures of the parents before adoption, and if I have ink in my printer, will
be printed out a picture of them
Please do not visit a petstore 2 hours before visiting the rattery. If you do, please go home first, wash and change your clothes. Rat illnesses spread like wild fire and if its on your clothes, it will get in my house. Always, even with your own rats, wash and change before you touch them or an area they will be that day.
Shoes must be taken off outside my house! This is due to the rat illnesses and the fact you can spread other things into the house. Its not just adopters who have to take off their shoes, my family members do as well.
Please relax and enjoy your time at my house, we are very laid back and enjoy meeting people. We only have strict rules due to our babies (rats) getting sick.
A $5, non-refundable deposit must be made at the time of reservation. This is on top of the adoption fee that must be made at the time of adoption. If, for example, your rat is $20, that would be $20 at the time of adoption plus the $5 reservation fee- made before the adoption.
I do not take checks or money orders, I cant risk a check being canceled or bouncing, and messing up my bank account.
Rats are non-refundable after one week
All adopters are to pay a $5 reservation fee per a rat at the time I reserve them for you
At the time of adoption, all adopters are to pay $25
Special for October 2009
This is for Alexandra and Alice's litter:
We do have an adopt one male for $25, adopt the second for only $15 special- so please, think of the males. They really need homes to and make great pets!

Rats are like children and need alot of attention- they need to be out of their cages at least 2 hours a day.
Cages need to be kept clean, if it starts to smell, you waited too long to change it.
Rats need a balanced diet. Our rats mainly eat rodent blocks. Our favourite brand is Mazuri Rodent. Diets consisting
of the seed mix are not healthy, the rats pick out the good stuff and leave the healthy stuff.
Always have food and water available at all times.
Rats need toys in their cages, and wood block to chew on. They must be kept mentally stimulated.
Rats should be kept away from cigarette smoke, it can and will cause cancer in them.
Always monitor children around them, rats are generally gentle and patient creatures,
but like with dogs, if treated wrong they can bite. Never let a child squeeze a rat or grab
it by its tail.
